ROMBOID BRUT = Modular & Drums
Live modular electronics and acoustic drums
Romboid Brut is a Zaragoza-based duo working within experimental and progressive electronic music, formed by Romboid (modular electronic production) and Javier Polo (acoustic drums). The project emerges from the fusion of computer-free, fully live electronic performance (dawless) with the most organic and physical instrument: the acoustic drum kit.
The sound combines modular synthesizers, samplers and processors with drums, vocal elements — ranging from sung and spoken voice to noise, loops and recorded speech — and a wide spectrum of sound treatments, from granular processing to distortion. The result is a living, evolving music where electronic and acoustic elements constantly interact, moving from downtempo passages to more intense and driving tempos.
Living music, open forms and constant evolution
Romboid Brut’s live performances are built on open structures, experimentation and controlled improvisation, with a strong element of chance that ensures no two performances are ever the same. Each piece follows a set of defined guidelines while remaining open to transformation in real time, shaped by the space, the moment and the energy of the performance.
The project is conceived as an intense and shifting sonic experience, designed for festivals and venues committed to avant-garde electronic music, hybrid formats and contemporary creation, with the possibility of integrating live-generated visuals that reinforce the unique and unrepeatable nature of each performance.
